Cool Canine Treats
Cool Canine Treats
Below are some ideas of treats for dogs to help them stay cool in the summer months. Please avoid anything you know your dog may be allergic to. Our dog is allergic to pumpkin, so we avoid treats with pumpkin!
1. Frozen Banana and Peanut Butter Cubes
-Blend those overly ripe bananas you have with some peanut butter. Make sure it doesn't contain xylitol because that is toxic to dogs.
-scoop or pour mixture into silicone molds or ice cube trays and freeze until they are solid!
2. Carrot stick pops
-simply freeze carrot sticks or whole carrots and they make a crunchy cold treat that is good for your pup!
3. Ice Cube Treats
-You can put almost anything into an ice cube treat.
-Chicken broth
-Applesauce
-Canned pumpkin with plain yogurt
-Pureed seedless watermelon
Make sure you supervise your canine friend with these treats if they are prone to gobbling things up. Or use a puzzle bowl or slow feeder bowl to slow the pup down a bit!
